SAIGE'S ART SMOCK

Saige, the 2013 American Girl Doll of the year, loves art.  She paints with her grandmother in her studio everyday after school.  When her school loses funding for their art teacher, Saige comes up with a plan to fund an after school art program.  American Girl has an "art package" you can purchase for Saige which includes and easel, paints, brushes, a few canvases and palatte.  But, it doesn't include an artist's smock.  I decided to make one today.  The one I made has a pocket on the front with two separate areas.  It ties behind her neck and waist.  Check it out..............

I found the miniature watercolor set at Party City in their birthday party section.  You can buy a bag full of these sets for a few $$$.

MORE SKINNY JEANS FOR SAIGE

     Here is another pair of Skinny Jeans I made from a Liberty Jane pattern.  I found the denim with spandex at Joann's.  This pattern is so much fun to stitch up and fits the American Girl dolls perfectly!  It has 4 working pockets, top stitching, faux front zipper and an elastic waist.  Below check out the flip flops I made from craft foam and duct tape!

SKINNY JEANS for SAIGE

Saige, the 2013 American Girl Doll of the year, is modeling a new pair of "Skinny Jeans" that I made out of stretchy jean material.  They fit her perfectly, have double stitching around the pockets and legs and have 4 working pockets just like real jeans!  The elastic in the waistline help little hands pull the jeans up and on.  Now, off to make a cute little top for Saige.

AMERICAN GIRL DOLL CLOTHES - 5 new dresses

New American Girl dresses, made with love, that will soon be added to my etsy shop, It's A Doll's World.  These are all handmade using 100% cotton in a smoke-free pet-free house.  These little dresses are filled with detail and I have finished all of the seams.  They would be fun for a little girl because they have large snaps or buttons closing the backs of the dresses.  The quality would also make them attractive to collectors.  Hope you like them...

A NEW AG DRESS

My latest American Girl Doll dress is a donation that I am making to our local library.  The library has an Addy doll that they plan to let patrons check out just like a book.  They needed some clothes to go along with Addy on her travels so I made one from some of my stashed fabric.  When she is "checked out" a little Journal will travel with her so the children can write down their adventures with Addy.  I love that idea and am so glad to be able to participate.  Enjoy the photos.......the sewing machine belonged to my grandmother's mother.

The pattern is the 1850's dress pattern from Keepers Dolly Duds.

The back buttons and is tied with a little sash.  (Which is a big pain to turn inside out!!!)

American Girl Doll Clothes

I love color, mixing patterns, instant gratification and sewing.  And.......my newest love is sewing from the Keepers Dolly Duds American Girl doll patterns.  These patterns are so well designed.  They are a pleasure to sew and fit perfectly!  The designer researched and designed her patterns with the greatest details.  But......since I love color I'm putting a little different spin on them.  I'm using lots of patterns and colors from my stash of fabrics.  (Please disregard the craft supplies in the background).

All of the patterns are finished on the inside.  The bodices are lined and hand stitched to cover the rough edges.  Lovely!  The patterns remind me of the smocking Children's Corner patterns I used to make for my daughter.

Here is one more example of the 1850's dress with pinafore.  I plan to sell these dresses in an ETSY store.  I'll post as soon as the store is ready.  Thanks for looking.
