WARM WINDOW SHADE - Part 2

The Warm Window shade is finally completed and installed. Below is the finished product.



In my last post, I talked about sewing on the plastic rings. Below you can see the rows of rings and the cording knotted on the bottom ring.



I used a 1" x 2" pine board for the header and installed screw eyes to thread the cords through.


After all of the cording is installed I find it easier to pull the cords tight. It's also a good idea to do this once the shade is installed so the pleats memorize their position.


I tie a knot at the end of the last screw eye to transport the shade for the installation.


These are the brackets we will use to install this inside mount.


Once the shade is installed, I like to braid the cord. It gives it a more tailored look and is stronger especially when you have a wide shade like I do.





And here is the finished shade lowered and blocking out all of the hot sun. Looks like I made it just in time because it is supposed to be 87 degrees here in Atlanta tomorrow!
