FAMILY PORTRAIT - GROOVY TOY STORY

Welcome to VINTAGE THINGIES THURSDAY hosted by Suzanne at Colorado Lady. Check out her blog and all of the other bloggers who post such wonderful vintage goodies. I always learn something new. Below are some of my toys from the 60's. I'm sure you recognize Snoopy as the Red Baron. He along with the large Troll Doll sat on my Dad's desk in the basement forever! Remember the smell of the plastic of those troll dolls? She still has that funny smell! You will also see my Skipper doll, who is in pretty good condition although it looks like I trimmed her bangs at some time. An old Raggedy Ann is in the middle. My Barbie has been restored by a wonderfully talented girl in California named Krista. You can look back at previous blog posts if you want to read more about her. To the right of Barbie is my Midge doll in her original condition. I have purchased a couple of vintage Barbie dresses on ebay recently. Seeing all of these toys together brings back good childhood memories of playing with friends during those carefree summers. The black and white fabric in the background was given to me by an artist friend. She bought the cotton in New York City in the early 60's planning on making a "mod" dress. It's being recycled and I am making a dress for my daughter.

  3. I love all of your toys! And now I'm wondering what happened to my Midge and Skipper dolls! I checked out your previous post, about your restored Barbie. She looks wonderful! This was such a great post, and brought back great memories of playing with my Barbies on our porch, for hours!
    Happy VTT!

  5. OMG - a girl of kindred spirit. I was an absolute Barbie addict. The second you mentioned "Midge" in your post I had to scroll down to see the picture. When I saw Barbie with her molded eyelashes and Midge and Skipper too! So cool! And a troll! The only thing missing is a Little Kiddle. Remember those? I would love to find one.

Until last year, for Christmas every year I bought each of my 3 daughters (now 18, 22 and 24 years old) a collectible Barbie. Needless to say I have a lot of Barbies stored in my house.

    P.S. I apologize for babbling.

  7. I love your collection---these almost could be a one-from-each-decade in toy popularity.

Barbie's new re-do reminds me of Betty Draper.

  12. What fun toys! I was too old to have a Barbie, but I had a troll and now that you mention it, I remember the smell. It is probably not good for our health!

  16. Nice trip down memory lane. I actually liked Midge better than Barbie. I always thought that in real life, Barbie would have been a snob and Midge the nice girl next door. LOL!
    Thanks for sharing!

  17. Sometimes I see dolls that remind me of playing when I was a kid...I had a barbie --- and I think of Midge too. And never get them cause they are a mess, if I can afford them!

I never thought of someone who can fix them! Brilliant!
