Evening light

I just had to post this shot of my clematis that is growing on my mailbox.  It has just popped with blooms and they are so beautiful.  I love their periwinkle color and the sun backlighting turning the background into a turquoise.  Nature creates the most beautiful palette of colors - periwinkle, lime green, turquoise, burnt sienna.  Now I'm in the mood to paint!

Peas in a Pod

A quick shout out for my daughter's ETSY site.  She is very creative and makes these adorable plush toys for children.  Some of  the items are big enough to be used as pillows........for a beach home......maybe?  I can just see a starfish, kiwi or watermelon slice pillow on a cute little ticking loveseat in a beach house.  Go check out her site:  Kelly Fly Art.

Cutts Garden

A big thank you to Dr. and Mrs. Cutts for letting us paint in their gardens on Friday.  I painted a little thank you note for them of their statue garden.  It was tucked away behind some hostas and iris.  I will be painting more watercolors of their gardens so check back soon. 

Hold Everything Tote

I just finished making my Anna Maria Horner "Hold Everything" tote.  It was a very interesting pattern, flipping fabric this way and that way, inside and out, sew, flip, press, stitch, fold back turn inside out and presto.......a wonderful tote.  Check out her blog.  Like?

Plein Air Painting in Canton

My Plein Air painting group painted in Canton today at this lovely location.  This couple owns 30 acres which includes a lake, creek, barn two houses and a zillion wildflowers.  There were 7 of us painting today.  It was a real treat and we've been invited to come back to see more flowers in bloom.  I found a quiet, shaded spot to paint a grouping of wildflowers and azaleas.  I can't wait to go back!  Enjoy!

My Secret Ambition

Two of my photos from this past weekend's Woodstock Day were featured in the Cherokee Ledger News.  I love photography, taking candid photos of people and places and capturing the essence of the place.  I especially like taking candid photos of children because they are so uninhibited.  I once photographed a wedding and captured the 4 year old ringbearer climbing a tree and hanging upside down in his little tux....my favorite photo of the wedding!  

Morning Sunlight

The morning sun just illuminated the dogwoods in my backyard and I had to run out and take a photo.  The blooms won't last much longer but they have been so beautiful this year with their clouds of white sprinkling the woods in my backyard.  Enjoy!

Downtown Woodstock Day 2009

I had a great time at Woodstock Day 2009 today. There was a Sidewalk Chalk Art competition in front of Roomscapes Gallery and some of the most adorable and talented kids (and grownup kids) participated. Notice Kristina Laurendi Havens' beautiful chalk art of the lady with the white veil. You can see more of her work here. The Blueridge Scenic Railway took passengers from Woodstock to Canton. I was among many artists to set up easels on this beautiful day. Enjoy the photos!
